Stockton Rush’s Net worth

Stockton Rush, chief executive officer of OceanGate, comes from a wealthy household with an estimated net worth of $12 million. According to a Family Office Exchange article from a 2020 virtual forum, Rush was able to explore a variety of jobs and experiences due to his wealthy family’s financial support. The family’s fortune originated with his grandfather, who, despite beginning as a “dirt poor Irish immigrant,” by the age of 33 had become the youngest director of Standard Oil in America.

In addition, Stockton’s ancestry can be traced back to two prominent figures in American history who signed the Declaration of Independence: Benjamin Rush and Richard Stockton. He is also related to the poet Annis Stockton, the United States Attorney General Richard Rush, and the American Civil War commander Richard Henry Rush.

Due to his family’s wealth, salary from OceanGate, and experience in the aerospace industry, it is estimated that Stockton’s net worth is approximately $12 million. Noting that OceanGate is valued at $66 million indicates that Stockton, as the company’s founder and CEO, presumably holds a substantial financial stake in the business.

Early Life of Stockton Rush

OceanGate’s CEO and originator is Stockton Rush. OceanGate Inc., founded in 2009 by Stockton Rush and headquartered in Everett, Washington, specialises in providing crewed submersibles for a variety of industries, research, and exploration purposes. In 2021, the company began offering expeditions to the iconic Titanic wreckage, allowing paying customers to embark on an eight-day journey for up to $250,000 per individual.

Former U.S. submariner Eric Moreno, who interviewed Rush about these excursions two years ago, expressed confidence in Rush’s abilities and believed that he and his passengers would return safely. Moreno remarked that Rush’s tenacity and knowledge made him exceptionally qualified to handle such endeavours.

Rush’s genuine ambition has always been to revolutionise underwater travel, despite his varied experiences. In a 2021 interview lasting 90 minutes with Eric Moreno, Rush discussed his vision for the future of submersibles. Rush’s concepts left Moreno, who served on the Los Angeles-class submarine USS Hampton and founded the sub-Reddit r/submarines, extremely impressed.

No one else at the time operated submersibles that could routinely descend and ascend without extensive maintenance. Rush assured Moreno of the durability and safety of his carbon fibre and titanium-constructed submersibles. He explained that the vessels were equipped with sensors to detect potential failures and enable a secure evacuation in the event of an emergency.

In the current situation, time is of the essential, as Rear Adm John Mauger of the U.S. Coast Guard stated that the submersible has a limited oxygen supply estimated to last between 70 and 96 hours. Eric Moreno remains optimistic regarding the rescue operation and believes that Stockton Rush is the only person who can effectively navigate this situation.

Stockton Rush profession

Stockton received a BSE in aerospace, aeronautical, and astronautical engineering from Princeton University in 1984 and an MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business in 1989.

In 1981, at the age of 19, he graduated from the United Airlines Jet Training Institute and served as a DC-8 first officer on flights to Europe and the Middle East during his semesters off from college.

Stockton departed Princeton to become a flight test engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation’s F-15 programme, spending two years at Edwards Air Force Base working on its APG-63 radar test and anti-aircraft programmes.

In the year he left UC Berkeley, he constructed a Glasair III experimental aircraft, which he still owns and pilots, and a Kittredge K-350 two-man submarine, in which he has completed more than 30 dives.

In Seattle, Washington, between 2003 and 2007, Stockton served on the Museum of Flight’s Board of Trustees and chaired the institution’s Development Committee for one year.

In addition to serving on the board of BlueView Technologies. A manufacturer of high-frequency sonar systems, he established OceanGate Expeditions in 2009 and OceanGate Foundation in 2012.

Stockton Rush Age

Born in 1962, he will be 61 years old in June of 2023.

What Happened With him?

OceanGate Expeditions dispatched a submersible on June 18, 2023, to investigate the Titanic’s wreckage, which is approximately 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, was one of the five passengers and personnel members aboard the vessel.

Unfortunately, after the submersible was deployed, it did not return as planned, prompting the United States Coast Guard to launch a search and rescue mission to locate the missing research submarine. According to news reports, Stockton Rush, Paul-Henry Nargeolet, a French submersible pilot, and Hamish Harding, a 59-year-old British billionaire industrialist, are all missing.

The situation is causing concern, and efforts are being made to locate and rescue the submersible’s passengers and crew members. Authorities are assiduously working to ensure the safety and well-being of those missing during the ongoing search operation.

2023 Titan Submersible Incident

The Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate Expeditions, vanished on June 18, 2023, in the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The submersible was engaged in a tourist expedition to observe the Titanic wreckage, with a total of five people on board: Shahzada Dawood, a British-Pakistani businessman, and his son Suleman, Hamish Harding, a British billionaire, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French explorer, and Stockton Rush, the founder and CEO of OceanGate.

Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive at the Titanic disaster site, the submersible lost contact. The authorities were notified when the submersible failed to resurface at the scheduled time later that day, causing concern. The submersible is equipped with a four-day supply of oxygen, which is expected to run out on June 22, 2023, in the early morning hours.

Rescue and search operations are presently underway in an effort to locate and recover the missing submersible and its crew. Due to the limited air supply, the situation is dire, and authorities are making every effort to return the individuals safely.
