Babu launched his acting career with a supporting role in the 2010 film Ye Maaya Chesave, which was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by his sister-in-law Manjula Ghattamaneni. His first leading character was in the 2012 film Siva Manasulo Sruthi. a remake of the Tamil film Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009).

With the 2013 horror comedy film Prema Katha Chitram, Babu achieved success. The film, which had a budget of 2 crore, grossed 20 crore at the box office.
