Thomas first rose to prominence in 2012 when he scored 130 runs off 119 deliveries against Wellington in a List A match; he was then selected for the ODI against Zimbabwe. Latham toured the West Indies in June 2014, scoring three half-centuries and a total of 288 runs in three Tests and two Twenty20s. In November 2014, he achieved his first test century against Pakistan by hitting 103 runs.
