Tracee Ellis Ross Biography: Tracee Joy Silberstein, better recognized by her professional name Tracee Ellis Ross, was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 29, 1972. Ross is a formidable presence in the fields of performing, acting, and hosting. Patricia Ellis Silverstein, her father, is a music executive and American businessman, and Diana Ross, her mother, is an iconic Motown vocalist, actress, and performer. Her father is of Jewish descent, while her mother is of African-American descent. Following his time at Dalton School in Manhattan, Ross matriculated at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. She graduated from secondary school and subsequently matriculated at Brown University, a prestigious Ivy League institution.

In the 1996 film “Far Harbor,” Ross debuted on screen in the role of an African-American/Jewish woman. She began moderating “The Dish,” a Lifetime television magazine devoted to popular culture, the following year. She made her acting debut in the 2000 film “Hanging Up,” which was directed and starred in by the renowned actress Diane Keaton. In the aforementioned year, she commenced performing comic skits on a regular basis for MTV’s hip-hop variety program “The Lyricist Lounge Show,” where she promptly recognized her passion for comedy. Ross debuted as an actress on television in 2000 in the main role of the C.W. comedy series “Girlfriends.” She was the recipient of numerous N.A.A.C.P. Image Awards from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in recognition of her contributions to the program.

Ross earned her second iconic comedy role in 2014 when she was cast as the female protagonist on the ABC comedy series “Black-ish.” In addition, her performance on the program earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and additional N.A.A.C.P. Image Awards. She served as the moderator of numerous award ceremonies during the latter part of the 2010s, including the American Music Awards, the Fashion Awards, and one more. 2020’s Focus Features film “The High Note” featured her in the principal role, portraying the renowned singer Grace Davis. The film marked the debut of Ross as a vocalist in her professional career. “Time” magazine ranked Ross among the top 100 most influential people in the globe the following year.
