Trisha Krishnan Biography: Trisha Krishnan (born 4 May 1983) is an Indian actress who primarily appears in Tamil and Telugu films in five different languages. She entered the film industry after winning the Miss Chennai pageant in 1999, which propelled her to prominence. Trisha is frequently referred to as the “Queen Of South India” because of her contributions to the film industries of all South Indian languages. The Times of India has ranked her among the finest actresses in South India.
Trisha was born on 4 May 1983 in Chennai (then known as Madras) to Krishnan Iyer and Uma Iyer into a Palakkad Tamil Brahmin family. She completed her elementary and secondary education at the Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park, Chennai and then pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree at the Ethiraj College for Women (Chennai). She dabbled in modelling and appeared in numerous print and television advertisements. In 1999, she won the “Miss Salem” contest and, later that year, the “Miss Chennai” competition. She had also earned the “Beautiful Smile” award at the Miss India 2001 pageant. She adheres to a vegan diet.
Initially, Trisha desired to become a criminal psychologist, and she resisted the idea of pursuing acting because she wanted to finish her studies first. She also appeared as Ayesha Takia’s confidante in Falguni Pathak’s music video Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye, which was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Indian film director Priyadarshan subsequently approached her for a role in the Tamil film Lesa Lesa (2003), which marked the beginning of her professional career as an actress. While in college, she maintained a rigorous filming schedule, which made it difficult for her to continue her education. However, she made up for it by taking summer courses.
Trisha Krishnan began her modelling career in 1998 while pursuing her matriculation. She appeared in numerous print and television advertisements. Trisha won both Miss Salem and Miss Madras pageants in the same year, 1999.
She made her acting debut in the 1999 Tamil film “Jodi” as ‘Gayathri’s acquaintance.’ The director of the film was Praveen Gandhi. Following this, she appeared alongside Ayesha Takia in the music video for ‘Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye’ by Falguni Pathak.
Trisha was approached for the lead character of ‘Balamani in the film “Lesa Lesa” (2003), but the film was delayed and “Mounam Pesiyadhe” (2002) became her first release in a leading role.
She has acted in many commercially successful Tamil films such as ‘Saamy’ (2003), ‘Ghilli’ (2004), ‘Kireedam’ (2007), ‘Bheemaa’ (2008), ‘Sarvam’ (2009), ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’ (2010), ‘Mankatha’ (2011), ‘Endrendrum Punnagai’ (2013), ‘Aranmanai 2’ (2016), ‘Kodi’ (2016), ’96’ (2018), and ‘Petta’ (2019). Tr made her Telugu debut in the 2003 film “Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu” starring “Preethi” directed by Jyothi Krishna.
She has appeared in a number of commercially successful Telugu films, including ‘Varsham’ (2004), ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ (2005), ‘Pournami’ (2006), ‘Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule’ (2007), ‘Krishna’ (2008), ‘Bodyguard’ (2012), ‘Lion’ (2015), and ‘Nayaki’ (2016). She made her Bollywood début as ‘Gehna Ganphule’ in the 2010 film “Khatta Meetha” by Priyadarshan. Despite the commercial and critical disaster of the film, she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
In the 2014 film “Power,” she made her Kannada acting debut as ‘Prashanti.’ The director of the film is K. Madesh.
She made her Malayalam acting debut in the 2018 film “Hey Jude” as ‘Crystal Ann Chakraparambu.’ Jeethu Joseph was the director of the movie.
Trisha resides with her mother and grandmother in Chennai. Trisha’s father passed away in October 2012. She speaks Tamil, English, Hindi, and French fluently. She adheres to a vegetarian diet
Her mother Uma Krishnan was offered numerous roles by a number of Tamil film directors and actors, including Kamal Hasaan. But she declined them in order to focus on Trisha’s career.
