Joseph started the band Twenty One Pilots with Nick Thomas on bass and Chris Salih on drums in 2009. Their self-titled debut record “Twenty One Pilots” came out on its own and made it to number 115,000 on the U.S. Billboard 200. After the tour in Ohio, Salih and Thomas quit the band. This led Joseph to team up with Josh Dun, an American drummer who finally quit his job at Guitar Center to become the group’s full-time drummer. “Regional at Best,” the duo’s first independent record, didn’t do very well. After signing with the American record label Warner Music Group, the musical duo put out their first album, “Vessel,” which got great reviews, sold over 569 thousand copies, and made it onto several foreign charts. Joseph played in a church band and played at a few events.

The following years were very successful for the pair, as they released hit songs that went to the top of many foreign charts. The album “Blurryface” won a lot of awards, including three platinum records from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As the music duo went on tours around the world, their fame and success grew even more.
