Carolyn London was her mother and Donald Banks was her father. Carolyn was a medical photographer and Donald was a computer expert. She grew up with her brother Devin. She went to middle school at John Burroughs and high school at Immaculate Heart, where she finished. In 2012, she finished the nine-week course she was taking to finish the non-degree extension program for administration at Harvard University.

Banks started out her work as a teen model. She is the first African American woman to be on the cover of both “G.Q.” and a “Sports Illustrated” swimsuit issue. From 1997 to 2005, she was also a Victoria’s Secret Angel. This made her famous as a model, and she quickly became one of the highest-paid models in the world. In 1993, she started her acting career with the comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” She did, however, make her movie bow in 1995 with “Higher Learning.”
