Chandrayaan-3 landing point: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced early Saturday that the site where the Chandrayaan-3 lander Vikram soft-landed and Chandrayaan-3 landing point will be named Shivashakti, while the point where the Chandrayaan-2 lander impacted will be named Tiranga.

Arriving directly from Greece, he made the announcement at Isro’s monitoring and telemetry centre here. He also declared that August 23, the date on which Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon, will be observed as National Space Day.
He also emphasised how space technology has facilitated transparency and efficacy in the country’s daily operations.
S. Somanath, chairperson of Isro, stated that the Chandrayaan-3 rover, Pragyan, had traversed 12 metres as of Saturday morning and shared multiple images of the moon with the prime minister.
He stated that Pragyan is expected to photograph Vikram later today (Saturday).
