I2U2 Grouping: India, Israel, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates have formed a new organization called I2U2. The newly formed organization intends to reinvigorate and revitalize American partnerships worldwide. In July 2022, the group will convene its first virtual summit. What exactly is I2U2?

I2U2 is a new alliance formed by the United States, India, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. The four-nation summit will focus on the countries’ shared global challenges, including the food security crisis and defense.

The history:

  • In October of 2021, India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States convened for the first time under a new framework. The four-nation coalition was formerly known as the ‘International Forum for Economic Cooperation’ or the ‘West Asian Quad’.
  • Challenges in marine security, infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and transportation were addressed by the organization.

Mission of the I2U2

  • I2U2 seeks to reinvigorate and revitalize American partnerships worldwide.
  • The group seeks to strengthen ties and discuss agricultural security, maritime, and other areas of cooperation between these four countries.
  • In addition to focusing on biotechnology, one of the goals is to strengthen economic and trade ties between Israel and the UAE and to expand trade and economic ties between the two nations.
  • India, Israel, and the UAE are technological powerhouses, and there are numerous areas in which they can collaborate, including technology, trade, climate, COVID-19, and security.
  • I2U2 endeavors to investigate security cooperation between the four nations within the new organization.

I2U2 Grouping: In July 2022, the four nations comprising the new alliance will convene their first virtual summit to discuss the food security crisis and other areas of cooperation. The first-ever virtual summit between these nations will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Neftali Bennet, and UAE President Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

The group is being referred to as the ‘New Quad’ or the ‘Middle-Eastern Quad’ in a manner similar to the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QSD).
