This year only 3500 vacancies have been taken out for the Air Force as Agniveers. which is less than the previous years. In the information given to the Parliament by the Ministry of Defense, it was said that till 2015, 5000 personnel were recruited in the Air Force every year, from which the retiring soldiers were compensated. In the year 2018 6800 recruitments were done while in 2019 it was increased to 7200 and in 2020 8400 recruitments were done. However, the recruitment process in 2020 and 2021 got stuck due to Corona. Later this year due to the implementation of the new system, the old recruitments were canceled. After this, the Agneepath scheme has been announced by the government, in which new recruitments have been reduced to just 3500, which is less than half of the annual recruitments being done earlier.
