AMU Jumps up to higher band in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings

AMU's improving trajectory illustrates its commitment to academic excellence and global competitiveness.

Higher Education World University Rankings: The most recent Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings were released on September 27 in London, and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) reported a noteworthy accomplishment. AMU has significantly improved both nationally and internationally by moving up to a higher rank band. Its rise from number 23 to position 6 inside India highlights its excellence within the country’s higher education system.

The elevation of AMU from the worldwide rank band of 801–1000 in 2022 to the 601–800 rank band in 2023, which represents a significant improvement, highlights the university’s extraordinary achievement.

With 1,904 institutions spanning 108 countries and regions, Times Higher Education (THE) is famous for its thorough evaluation of universities around the world. According to Prof. M. Salim Beg, Chairman, Committee For Ranking of the University, AMU, this year’s ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which consists of 18 painstakingly calibrated performance indicators that cover teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.

With each year that goes by, university competition gets more intense. There were 2,325 universities covered in the rankings for 2022, and 1,799 of them achieved rankings. In contrast, there were 2,673 listed schools in the 2023 rankings, and 1,904 universities received rankings.
