JMI's ranking has significantly increased, as it is now ranked 128th in Asia, surpassing its previous ranking of 160th.
According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings-2023, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has accomplished a remarkable feat by securing a position among India’s top 10 institutions. JMI’s ranking has significantly increased, as it is now ranked 128th in Asia, surpassing its previous ranking of 160th. This remarkable advancement of 32 positions demonstrates JMI’s exceptional performance among national institutions.
The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings assessed the performance of 669 universities from 31 nations using the same thirteen performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings. However, these indicators have been re-calibrated to account for the distinctive characteristics of Asian institutions. To provide a comprehensive and balanced assessment, the rankings considered the universities’ primary missions, such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international perspective.
JMI has maintained its position in THE World University Rankings and was positioned between 601 and 800 in the previous edition, THE World University Rankings-2021. Prof. Najma Akhtar, vice chancellor of JMI, expressed great confidence and satisfaction in the institution’s accomplishment, attributing it to the hard work of the faculty, non-teaching staff, and stakeholders. Prof. Najma Akhtar anticipates further advancements in the future years as a result of the university’s international recognition, which highlights its commitment.
JMI has continuously increased its national and international rankings over the past few years. It maintained its third position among universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) – India Rankings-2023, published by the Ministry of Education, and improved its overall ranking by 13 places to reach the twelfth spot.
In addition, JMI’s position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings-2023 improved, relocating from the 601-800 band to the 501-600 band worldwide in comparison to the previous year’s rankings. The university moved up in the QS Asia University Rankings-2022, published by the QS University Rankings Agency, from 203rd to 186th place, an improvement from the previous year.
These consistent rises in national and international rankings demonstrate JMI’s dedication to academic excellence and its ongoing efforts to improve its performance and reputation as a preeminent institution.
