Bihar School Holidays 2023: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced modifications to the government school holidays between August 28 and December 31, 2023. The number of school holidays has been reduced from 23 to 11 per the circular.
In order to satisfy the required minimum number of working days of 200 days for Classes I through V and 220 days for Classes VI through VIII, it was decided to reduce school vacations. The duration of the Durga Puja school holidays has been reduced from six to three days. Additionally, there are one-day holidays for Diwali and Chitragupta Puja, as well as two-day holidays for Chhath Puja.
The opposition parties have harshly criticised the decision. The Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh, posted on X (previously Twitter): “The Education Department of the Government of Bihar has cancelled the holidays for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. Tomorrow, it is conceivable that Sharia will be implemented in Bihar and Hindu festivals will be prohibited.”
Wednesday, teachers in the district of Kishanganj demonstrated against the government’s decision to suspend the Raksha Bandhan school holidays.
