Clinical meet held: A Clinical Meet was held at the Institute of Ophthalmology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, to discuss the growth in Dry Eye disease after cataract surgery.
The Institute’s Director, Prof. A.K. Amitava, spoke on the rise in Dry Eye instances, which was made worse by a rise in screen usage during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among children and young adults. According to data, roughly 30% of Indians are estimated to have Dry Eye, with post-cataract surgery patients making up 37% of these cases.
A consulting ophthalmologist named Dr. M. Saquib explained many tear substitute possibilities and emphasised cooling for preservation, especially in the heat.

Senior resident Dr. Ayesha discussed the causes of Dry Eye illness and difficulties in treating it. She discussed the prevalence of the condition in older age groups, regular screen users, and post-intraocular surgery dryness in patients, including kids, who had conjunctivitis.
Dr. Zia Siddiqui explained the preventive measures and gave insights into the reasons of dry eye after cataract surgery.
