Urinary Tract Infections: A national CME on urinary tract infections (UTIs) was arranged by the Hospital Infection Society of India’s Aligarh Chapter in partnership with Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University’s Department of Microbiology and Department of Medicine. A large number of medical professionals, academics, and healthcare enthusiasts attended the academic programme.
Chief guest Dr. Raman Sardana, Secretary, Hospital Infection Society India, addressed the opening session. He stated that UTIs are a common problem in outpatient settings and that a multidisciplinary strategy is required to address this complicated issue.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Veena Maheshwari, emphasised the value of teamwork in planning a CME for the training of junior faculty members’ academic and professional skills.

Distinguished speakers, such as Dr. Nadeem Ahmad and Prof. Kamran Afzal, offered their knowledge in sessions on paediatric UTI and CAUTI prevention and management.
Arun Kumar, Prof. Sarita Mahopatra, Dr. Nisha Goyal, Prof. Kausar Usman, Prof. Himanshu Verma, and other academics and experts from AIIMS New Delhi, UCMS, New Delhi, KGMU, Lucknow, etc. spoke about stewardship practises, urinary tract infections in pregnancy, tuberculosis, alternative approaches to treating UTIs, and asymptomatic bacteriuria during the CME.
During the valedictory session, prizes were awarded to the winners of the oral and poster presentations.
