Eye Donation Fortnight at AMU Concludes with Felicitation Ceremony

Prof. A. K. Amitava, chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, extended a cordial invitation to donor families to share their experiences and expressed sincere appreciation for their altruistic contributions.

Eye Donation Fortnight: The Department of Ophthalmology at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) held a spectacular felicitation ceremony to mark the conclusion of its Eye Donation Fortnight. The event served as a venue to recognise the invaluable contributions of donor families, students, medical professionals, and devoted volunteers, as well as to honour the extraordinary efforts made by the AMU Eye Bank over the past two weeks.

Families of donors were held in high regard for their unwavering determination and unbounded generosity. Patients who had received corneal tissue as a result of eye donation were in attendance and expressed their gratitude to the donor families.

Eye Donation Fortnight at AMU Concludes

Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, conveyed gratitude for the eye bank’s commendable work and pledged unwavering support for its future endeavours.

Dr. Adeeb Alam Khan, formerly in charge of the Eye Bank, recounted the eye bank’s inspiring journey, highlighting the obstacles overcome and the critical significance of sustaining commitment to the cause.

Dr. S K Gaur and Dr. Jayant Sharma from ‘Deh Daan Sanstha’ were honoured for their considerable contributions, as was CA Anil Varshney, a staunch supporter of the cause.

Dr. M Saquib, Assistant Incharge of the Eye Bank, accompanied by Dr. Sameen Mirza, shared insights into the multitude of events and initiatives organised throughout the Eye Donation Fortnight.

MBBS students from J N Medical College were awarded prizes for their tireless efforts in promoting ocular donation awareness due to their exceptional dedication.

Dr. Zia Siddiqui expressed gratitude to all the distinguished guests, participants, and devoted volunteers who contributed to the Eye Donation Fortnight and felicitation ceremony’s success.

Mr. Sabir of the Eye Bank, Dr. Sameen Mirza, Dr. Razi, and Hansika Saxena also took part in the event.
