Formerly known as the Australian India Education Council (AIEC), the AIESC was founded in 2011 as a binational organization to direct the strategic orientation of the two countries' education, training, and research collaborations.
The inaugural Australia-India Education and Skill Council (AIESC) meeting will take place tomorrow at IIT Gandhinagar. Formerly known as the Australian India Education Council (AIEC), the AIESC was founded in 2011 as a binational organization to direct the strategic orientation of the two countries’ education, training, and research collaborations.
In accordance with the national priorities of both nations, this forum’s scope was expanded to emphasize collaboration, two-way mobility, and internationalization promotion in the education and skill ecosystem sectors.
This is a first: the convergence of education and skill development within a single institutional forum. It is anticipated that the visit will facilitate cooperation, active engagement, and synergy in pivotal domains of shared interest within the realm of skills and education. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India; the Honorable Mr. Brendan O’Connor, Minister of Skills and Training, Government of Australia; and Hon. Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education, Government of Australia, will jointly preside over the meeting.
Academic and skill experts will convene at this meeting to deliberate on a vast array of mutually agreed-upon concerns, with the ultimate goal of influencing the trajectory of education and skill development in both of our countries. The discussions will adhere to the following three overarching themes: the formation of future workforces, the enhancement of institutional partnerships in education, and the promotion of research impact via internationalization. Senior government officials from both Australia and India, in addition to the chiefs of higher education institutions and skill sectors, are expected to attend the meeting.
Ministers will conduct site visits to pivotal institutions in order to identify crucial areas of collaboration. This encompasses visits to the Centre for Creative Learning at IIT Gandhinagar, an institution dedicated to fostering a scientific mindset and the innate creativity of both educators and students through the development of tools, dissemination of ideas with an emphasis on STEM art, and the establishment of science centers and laboratories. In addition, Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) and Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDDU) will be visited by the ministers. PDDU was founded in order to remain competitive and adapt to the rapidly evolving energy sector, to strategize for the future, and to consistently develop the necessary human resources and intellectual capital.
To support the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), the Vidya Samiksha Kendra is an organization that helps everyone see things in the same way. It gives important people the power to use data to make decisions and take action in both academic and non-academic areas. Consequently, this initiative enhances learning outcomes.
The itinerary for the second day also encompasses a visit by the Honorable Jason Clare MP and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan to the Gift City, where they will visit the campuses of Deakin University, the University of Wollongong, and Arambh: Australian universities situated in India. An essential component of the second day’s discourse revolves around the Research Dialogue: A Novel Approach to Research Collaboration. Innovative opportunities for strengthening bilateral research collaborations in a prospering research ecosystem via industry partnerships, research workforce, and strategies are anticipated to be identified through the interaction. It will also seek to facilitate research networks between the two nations in specific disciplines.
