Florida’s education board: On Wednesday, October 18, the Florida Board of Education is anticipated to vote to extend some statutory toilet restrictions to private schools and universities.
Students and staff at public schools are already prohibited from using restrooms that don’t correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth.
If adopted, it would be illegal for faculty members and students at private universities to use restrooms and locker rooms that don’t correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth.

In addition to student housing, these new regulations would also apply to facilities found in gyms and sporting facilities.
Additionally, private schools and universities would have to set up disciplinary measures for anyone who enters a space reserved for people of the opposite sex.
According to the Florida Department of Education, instructors and personnel who violate these guidelines risk losing their state accreditation.
Under the “Safety in Private Spaces Act” that went into force on July 1st, lavatory limitations have already been implemented for public K–12 schools and institutions.
