Four Govt teachers convicted for submitting fake certificates in Odisha
They were Daitary Nayak, an assistant teacher at Mahisapata Government UGME School under the Nilagiri police station, Narahari Nayak, a former teacher at Jharanaghati Primary School (currently suspended), Dhirendra Nayak, a retired teacher from Pithahata Nodal Primary School, and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra, a former teacher at Tentulia UGME School.
On Tuesday, the court found these teachers guilty and sentenced them to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 fine each. If they fail to pay the fine, they will also be subjected to harsh imprisonment.
In addition, the court sentenced Daitary Nayak and Mohapatra to four years of solitary confinement, a Rs 20,000 fine, and three months of solitary confinement if the fine was not paid. All the sentences must run simultaneously. On Tuesday, all of the aforementioned convicts were transferred to correctional detention.
Following their conviction, Odisha Vigilance will petition the appropriate authority for the cessation of Dhirendra Nayak’s pension and the dismissal of Daitary Nayak, Narahari Nayak, and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra.
Gangulal Behera, former inspector of Vigilance, Balasore division, conducted the investigation, while SK Ray, special public prosecutor of Vigilance, Balasore, represented the prosecution in the case.
