G20 Summit Book Exhibition Excites AMU’s Maulana Azad Library

The event, graced by Chief Guest Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, AMU Vice Chancellor, commenced with fervor, drawing a diverse crowd of book enthusiasts, including students, research scholars, and faculty members.

The Maulana Azad Library at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has embarked on a literary journey with the much-anticipated Two Day G20 Book Exhibition, 2023. The event, graced by Chief Guest Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, AMU Vice Chancellor, commenced with fervor, drawing a diverse crowd of book enthusiasts, including students, research scholars, and faculty members.

The exhibition showcases significant publications from prominent national and international publishers, focusing on G20 summit subjects such as trade, sustainable development, health, agriculture, energy, environment, climate change, economics, and good governance.

On Monday, amidst the serene green surroundings of Maulana Azad Library, hundreds of students, research scholars, and faculty members gathered to explore and acquire books of their choice. Prof. Gulrez, while perusing the displayed books, emphasized the timeless allure and significance of books, stating unequivocally: that no technology can diminish their importance. He applauded the event’s alignment with the theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” “One Earth, One Family , One Future,” as it unites readers and books under one roof.

Prof Gulrez stressed that the exhibition actively encourages intellectual curiosity and critical thinking and underscored the university’s pivotal role in knowledge dissemination and intellectual growth, making this event a must-visit for book enthusiasts and knowledge seekers.

Prof. Nishat Fatima, University Librarian and organizer of the G20 Book Exhibition, emphasized the event’s role in enhancing literary understanding, especially among G20 countries. She highlighted its significance for students, researchers, faculty members, and library professionals, providing a platform to delve into subjects of interest. She informed visitors that the exhibition will remain open until 6:00 pm on Tuesday to offer visitors an extensive array of literary treasures and invaluable insights.

Dr. Habibur Rahman Khan, Deputy Librarian and Coordinator of the exhibition, acknowledged the demands of visitors and publishers.

This year’s edition presents an expanded two-day G20 Book Exhibition, featuring approximately fifty stalls with listed and approved publishers, vendors, and book sellers from across the country.
