Kerala CM reinstates deleted NCERT topics in SCERT textbooks
UNESCO, praising Kerala’s collaborative use of technology in education, writes, “In Kerala, the SchoolWiki initiative connects around 15,000 schools for collaborative content development.” SchoolWiki was created in 2009 to promote a culture of collaborative student learning. It has over 30,997 articles and 13,000 users. It contains educational material created by students, instructors, alumni, and the general public.
The state of Kerala’s free software policy ensures that at least 2 million school computers are equipped with the most recent versions of open-source and free software.
In addition, the report highlighted the Indian government’s initiative for open-source software applications. The report states, “The National e-Governance Plan, launched in India in 2015, mandates that all government software applications and services be developed using open source software in order to achieve efficiency, transparency, reliability, and affordability.”
