GSHSEB to act against dummy schools

The circular was issued in response to an order from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).

GSHSEB to act against dummy schools: The district education officer of Ahmedabad has contacted education offices to determine the number of schools with absent students and the schools with the greatest absentee rate. The circular was issued in response to an order from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).

GSHSEB to act against dummy schools

The letter states that the board has received complaints that numerous institutions are closed for the majority of the week. The letter from the DEO instructs officials to conduct random checks on private, grant-in-aid, and government institutions and collect information about absent students.
In May, a member of the board sent a letter to the chief minister and state education minister requesting that the board investigate and take action against the state’s fake schools. Priyavadan Korat, a member of the board, stated in a letter that there are numerous schools in the state affiliated with GSHSEB and other central boards functioning in the state that admit students beginning in Class 11 but exist only on paper.

According to the letter, these schools attract students who seek admission to prestigious institutions such as IIMs, IITs, and medical colleges. According to the letter, these institutions lack school buildings and teachers, and no academic activities are conducted. These institutions obtain board approval for the Class 12 science stream practical examinations. Korat also claimed that these fictitious schools do not designate their teachers to grade answer sheets because the teaching staff does not exist in reality.
