Hackathon AMUHacks 2.0 organized by Computer Science Department

As the Nation is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and G20 themed programmes, the Computer Science Society (CSS), Department of Computer Science, AMU, organized a 24-hour long Hackathon AMUHacks 2.0 from 18th to 19th March in collaboration with Google Developer Student Club (GDSC). Hackathon was a great success, in which a total of 147 teams registered for the event from the prominent institutions of the country. The event provided a platform for budding developers to showcase their skills and come up with innovative ideas.

The Hackathon officially started on March 18th March and the hacking began at 4:30 pm, where the participants had 24 hours to complete their projects. In the final round top ten teams presented their projects in ten minutes followed by a five-minute Question & Answer session with judges. The judges evaluated each project based on criteria such as creativity, originality, technical difficulty, and potential impact.

The first prize of Rs. 5000 was awarded to the team “Run Time Terror” for their project “JustShipIt”, it showcased complete solution for handling warehousing and supply chain management issues for various parties involved in international shipping.

The runner-up was the team “Geeks of Innovation” for their project “Driver Drowsiness Detection,” and was awarded Rs. 3000. It was a machine learning-based solution that involves monitoring a driver’s behavior to identify signs of drowsiness. “Team Invincible” won the consolation prize of Rs 1000 for their project “Newbie Care.” It was an innovative application that assesses maternal health during pregnancy.

In the closing ceremony, the judges shared their thoughts on the projects submitted and encouraged the students to continue to use their skills and knowledge to create positive change in the world.

Prof Aasim Zafar, Chairperson, Dept of Computer Science, in his address appreciated the organizers of the event and the judges, Mr. Saifuddin Danish, Muscat, Oman, Mr. Akram Ahmad, New Delhi and Dr. Faisal Anwer, AMU for their support and contribution. He also praised Dr. Mohammad Nadeem, the Coordinator of the event and other sponsors for their support.

The institutions like IIT BHU, NIT Rourkela, VIT Vellore, Maulana Aazad University Bhopal, Heritage College Kolkata, Netaji Subash University of Technology, New Delhi, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Tamilnadu, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, Chandigarh University, Punjab, Kalinga University, Bhuvneshver, Orissa, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi, Thapar Institute, Patiala, etc. after a rigorous two-round evaluation process, only ten teams made it to the finals.
