Heavy Rainfall in Himachal: Closure of All Educational Institutions and Postgraduate Exams Cancelled

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has ordered the closure of all educational institutions, both public and private, throughout the area

Heavy Rainfall in Himachal: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced the closure of all educational institutions statewide on August 14, 2023, as a precaution against the state’s ongoing and intense rain. The difficult weather conditions that have gripped the area have motivated this choice.

Numerous locations have experienced flooding as a result of the nonstop rain over the past 24 hours, including Mandi’s Balh valley, which has been inundated for two days in a row. No casualties were reported despite Chunahan village in Nachan being devastated by a cloudburst.

Postgraduate Exams Cancelled due to Heavy Rainfall in Himachal

In response to the circumstance, Himachal Pradesh University has also cancelled all upcoming postgraduate exams, including B.Ed. exams that were scheduled on the same day.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has ordered the closure of all educational institutions, both public and private, throughout the area in order to protect the security and wellbeing of students.

Given the ongoing rain in Himachal Pradesh, the education secretary released a notification expressing government worries for student safety. As a result, on August 14 all educational institutions will be closed, including ITIs, Polytechnic, Engineering, and Pharmacy Colleges.

The Chief Minister took early action by consulting with District Collectors to determine the extent of the heavy rain’s damage. According to feedback from different districts, landslides and property damage have a negative influence on road networks.

The Chief Minister has asked the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, and all District Collectors to closely watch developments brought on by the severe rains in order to manage the situation efficiently. To protect citizens in these difficult conditions, the emphasis is on maintaining the ongoing provision of critical services including roads, electricity, and water supplies.

Teams have been sent to assess the damages, and the effects of the torrential downpour can be seen in many places. Significant damage has been done to the Manali-Chandigarh highway, resulting in inundated sections at Nerchowk, Nagchala, Dadaur, and close to Mandi. Additionally, the Mandi district’s Beas River has breached its banks.

The subsequent notification from the Education Secretary has mandated that both government and private ITIs, Polytechnic, Engineering, and Pharmacy Colleges will likewise remain closed on August 14, 2023 due to the relentless rain and for the safety of everyone involved.
