INSPIRE KVPY 2023: Date, Application Form, Age Limit, Eligibility Criteria and Selection Procedure- The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is conducted to select candidates for a fellowship programme so that they may pursue a career in research. Previously, the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology conducted the selection examination to shortlist candidates for the fellowship.
However, beginning in 2022, the KVPY will be integrated with the INSPIRE scholarship and distributed according to its rules. No longer will a KVPY selection test be administered; instead, selection will be based on merit. INSPIRE KVPY 2023 Summary
- DST has chosen to combine KVPY and INSPIRE. Current KVPY scholars will continue to receive fellowships in accordance with DST regulations.
- Multiple (more than one) fellowships from diverse sources cannot be held simultaneously.
- Candidates who pass the KVPY are eligible for enrollment at IISc and IISER institutes across the nation.
- Students who intend to pursue an undergraduate degree through a university’s Distance Education program or correspondence course are ineligible to register.
- The fellowship will become active only after candidates enroll in an undergraduate program.
- The selection procedure is anticipated to conclude within six months of the application/required document submission deadline.

INSPIRE KVPY Application Procedure for 2023
- Candidates may submit a KVPY application and participate in the INSPIRE KVPY 2023 selection procedure. The application form will be available online at www.onlineinspire.gov.in, the official website of Inspire.
- Candidates must first submit an application form that includes their name, father’s name, date of birth, gender, contact information, password, etc.
- After submitting the registration form, the application form can be retrieved using the registration number and password.
- The application form requires personal and educational information such as domicile, category, qualifying exam passing year, passing status, passing marks, etc.
- The candidate’s scanned photograph and signature should be uploaded to the application form.
- The properly complete application form and application fee can be submitted online.
- Before submitting the form, candidates should double-check all of the information, as any errors can result in its rejection.
- The candidates must obtain a printout of the application form and store it for future reference.
KVPY 2023 Qualification Standards
The eligibility requirements for taking the INSPIRE KVPY 2023 examination are listed below.
Age Limit:
Minimum and maximum age requirements for candidates are set at 17 and 22 years, respectively.
Educational Requirements:
- Eligible candidates must have earned a first-place finish in a postgraduate level exam in Basic Sciences/ Applied Sciences, including Engineering, Pharmacy, Agricultural sciences, and Veterinary Sciences from a recognized Indian university or institution.
- Those who have earned the highest grade in any recognized Indian university or institution at the undergraduate or graduate level in medicine are also eligible to apply.
- First-place finishers must earn a minimum of 70 percent (or the equivalent GPA) in the fundamental science/applied science subject course/program.
- The university in which they are enrolled must have a minimum of seven students in each course or programme.
- INSPIRE scholars who have earned a minimum of 70% overall or equivalent CGPA in their M.Sc. or Integrated MS/M.Sc.
KVPY 2023 Selection Method
- The two-tiered selection procedure consists of an Internal Committee assessing eligible applications, followed by an Expert Committee making the final selection.
- The internal committee will shortlist candidates based on their performance in the qualifying examination.
- The profiles of only the finalists will be sent to the expert committee for final selection.
- Individually selected candidates will be informed of the outcome of the selection process solely through an online web portal.
- The result must be submitted exclusively to the INSPIRE web portal account of each applicant.
- Non-acceptance of the final offer within 30 days of its issuance will result in the annulment of the candidate’s candidature.
