As the Jamia Millia Islamia University asked students to vacate the hostel following announcement of vacation, the students, particularly girls, wrote to the Vice-Chancellor raising the issue of lockdown and their inability to follow the varsity order.
However, Jamia PRO Ahmed Azim assured them that they need not worry as the varsity would arrange train travel for students from far off destinations and buses for those who come from nearby places.
On Sunday, it also arranged bus to transport J&K students to their homes. According to Azim, 22 students were sent by bus, arranged by the university.
Other students would also be sent to their homes, he said and added the varsity was talking to state nodal officers.
Also, the hostel is situated within two containment zones and support staff resides in these areas. Thus the university doesn’t want to take risk.
