He stated that 25 laptops, seven computers, approximately 30 ‘post-dated cheques,’ as well as other documents including various students’ mark sheets, had been seized.
“Several people are being questioned,” a CBI spokesperson said. “The investigation is underway.” The CBI filed a case in September 2021 against ‘Affinity Education Pvt Ltd’ and its three directors – Siddharth Krishna, V. Mani Tripathi, and Govind Varshney – as well as touts, for alleged exam rigging.
The three directors, along with other associates and touts, were accused of rigging the online JEE (Main) examination by taking large sums from students. According to the spokesperson, it was also alleged that the accused obtained class 10 and 12 mark sheets, ‘user ID’, ‘password’, and ‘post-dated cheques’ from prospective students as guarantees, and after successful admission, the latter charged a whopping Rs 12-15 lakh per candidate.
