In recent years, the JEE Main has been administered in multiple sessions to provide candidates with greater flexibility.
JEE Main 2024 Notification: National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, an engineering entrance exam in India. B.E./B.Tech.) at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). It is a prerequisite for the JEE Advanced, the exam required for admission to IITs.
In recent years, the JEE Main has been administered in multiple sessions to provide candidates with greater flexibility. The first session is typically held in January, and the second session is typically held in April. This modification was made to provide students with more opportunities to take the exam and enhance their scores. Candidates have the option of participating in either or both of these sessions; the highest score is considered for admission.
Paper 1 is for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs, whereas Paper 2 is for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning programmes.
To be eligible to sit the JEE Advanced, candidates must achieve a minimum score on the JEE Main. The required score fluctuates from year to year.
The JEE Advanced is a significantly more challenging exam than the JEE Main. The examination consists of three sections: two papers on Physics and Mathematics, and one paper on Chemistry. To be eligible for admission to IITs, candidates must score well in both sessions of the examination.
If you are interested in studying engineering at an IIT, you should begin JEE Main preparation immediately. JEE Main and JEE Advanced information is available on the NTA website: https://www.nta.ac.in/.
JEE Main 2024: Latest Updates, Schedule, Exam Date, Highlights and More
Here is an overview of the JEE Main examination’s format:
Part I of the B. Arch. Exam 2A: Mathematics
Part II: Ability Test
Section III: Drawing Exam
Part I of B. Planning, Document 2B: Mathematics
Part II: Ability Test
Part III: Questions Based on Planning
CBT is used to administer the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) for B.E./B.Tech. Exam structure for this paper will be as follows:
Distribution of Questions by Subject, Total Number of Questions, and Marks:
Math: 20 (Section A – Multiple-Choice Questions) + 10 (Section B – Numerical Value Questions) = 30 Questions for a total of 100 points.
Physics: 20 (Section A – Multiple-Choice Questions) + 10 (Section B – Numerical Value Questions) = 30 Questions for a total of 100 points.
Chemistry: 20 (Section A – Multiple-Choice Questions) + 10 (Section B – Numerical Value Questions) = 30 Questions for a total of 100 points.
Total: 90 questions worth 300 points
The objective of this examination pattern is to evaluate candidates’ knowledge and problem-solving skills in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for B.E./B.Tech. programmes.
The following is the marking scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) on the JEE Main exam:
Four points are awarded for each correct or most relevant response. One point is deducted as a penalty for each mistaken response. If a query is left unanswered or marked for review, no additional or subtracted points are assigned. This grading scheme is intended to encourage candidates to provide accurate responses and discourage random guesswork.
The following is the grading rubric for numerical-response questions on the JEE Main examination
The following stages comprise the JEE Main examination’s method for determining merit:
This method ensures a fair and standardised approach to determining the merit of candidates taking the JEE Main examination in various shifts and on different days. It enables a more precise evaluation of a candidate’s performance relative to all other test-takers.
