Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi will be the chief guest on Sir Syed Day on October 17

A Quran Khwani (Quranic Recitation) will follow the Fajr (Day Break) prayer at the University Mosque at 6 am to kick off the day's events.

Chief guest on Sir Syed Day: Distinguished jurist and senior judge Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi of the High Court of Judicature in Allahabad’s Lucknow Bench will be the chief guest on October 17’s Sir Syed Day, which will honour Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of AMU, on the occasion of his 206th birthday.

At 11 a.m., he will arrive at the Gulistan-e-Syed, the program’s location, in a famous four-wheeled horse-drawn carriage from the Victorian era, complete with splendour and pomp. The Chief Guest will be accompanied to the location by Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Vice Chancellor of AMU, where they will be welcomed by Riding Club members.

The honorees are Dr. Laurence Gautier (Centre De Sciences Humaines, New Delhi), Mr. Sanjiv Saraf (Founder, Rekhta Foundation), and Mr. Syed Shahid Mahdi (Retd. IAS and Former Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia).

The Chief Guest will also speak at the event, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gulrez will deliver the presidential speech.

Earlier, the welcome address will be given by AMU Registrar Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS).

Professors Towqueer Alam, Dean, Faculty of Theology, and Aysha Munira Rasheed, Department of English, will give presentations in English and Urdu, respectively, on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s teachings, philosophy, deeds, and mission. On this occasion, two AMU students will also talk.

The winners of the Public Relations Office’s All India Essay Writing Competition on “Sir Syed’s Influence on Language and Literature” will get their awards from the chief guest, Justice Masoodi.

The Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre will also award prizes to the winners of the “In-House Students’ Research Convention” during the session.

The University Tarana and the National Anthem will be performed before Prof. Abdul Alim, Dean of Students’ Welfare, offers his vote of gratitude.

A Quran Khwani (Quranic Recitation) will follow the Fajr (Day Break) prayer at the University Mosque at 6 am to kick off the day’s events. Following the customary rite of “Chadar Poshi,” the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gulrez, will offer a floral tribute at Sir Syed’s Mazaar (grave) alongside academic members and university authorities.

At 10 am, Prof. Gulrez will also open the Sir Syed Ahmad Khan-related “Exhibition of Books and Photographs” at the Sir Syed House.

All the residence halls will host the customary Sir Syed Day meals to commemorate the event.
