Scientific temperament in graduates: Monday in BENGALURU, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, urged University Vice Chancellors to ensure that graduates have a scientific temperament. He emphasised the ineffectiveness of graduates lacking scientific knowledge and rational thought. This discussion took place at the Vidhana Soudha (the Karnataka state assembly) in Bengaluru, during a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister and attended by Vice Chancellors of public universities and senior officials of the Higher Education Department.
“What is the use of graduates without scientific temperament and rational thought who leave universities loaded with ignorance? What purpose do they serve for the nation, the state, and the society?” he asked.

He stated that universities should prepare graduates to scientifically, intellectually, economically, and civilly rule the nation.
“If they leave school filled with ignorance, they will be useless for the country, the state, and their own future,” he continued.
In districts where the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) is low, such as Chamarajanagar, Yadgiri, Hassan, Koppala, and Kodagu, etc., the chief minister has also ordered an increase in research and the implementation of necessary measures to boost the enrollment ratio of students and the quality of education.
Siddaramaiah also requested that Mysore University, the oldest and first university in the state, enhance its educational standards.
Vice-chancellors of 32 state public universities and senior department of higher education officials participated in the meeting.
