LG Sinha: The Lieutenant Governor of India, Manoj Sinha, stated on Wednesday that India needs engineers who can address the challenges of urbanization, infrastructure, and access to quality healthcare and education for all. He asserted that the ‘engineering prowess’ of countries such as Japan and the United States has contributed to their growth and elevated their global standing.
Today, at the inaugural session of the Foundation Program at Jagti Campus, Lt. Governor Sinha made this observation while addressing the incoming class of 2023 at IIT Jammu.
“The future of India offers enormous opportunities for engineering professions. “As the nation continues to invest in research and development, infrastructure, and technological progress, a plethora of opportunities await engineers,” stated the lieutenant governor.
The lieutenant governor cited Japan and the United States as examples of nations whose engineering prowess contributed to their development and elevated their global standing.
He stated that the world’s greatest powers are a testament to the importance of great engineers in propelling those nations to unprecedented heights.
“India requires engineers who can resolve the challenges of urbanization, infrastructure, and universal access to quality healthcare and education. The ideas and solutions of young engineers can pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society, said the lieutenant governor.
He stated, “India requires engineers who can collaborate globally and foster partnerships with other nations and institutions in order to address complex global issues. Young engineers have the potential to not only make India self-sufficient, but also to position it as a world leader.”
Under the leadership of the honorable prime minister, India is on the move and emerging as a technology and services center driven by a knowledge economy, he stated.
He added that the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives, coupled with a flourishing startup ecosystem, provide a fertile environment for youthful minds to make their mark and carve out a successful engineering career.
“We need engineers who think beyond textbooks, who query the status quo, and who view obstacles as opportunities. The expertise of the young engineers will be instrumental in advancing the Make in India and Start Up India missions, according to the Lieutenant Governor.
Earlier, the lieutenant governor extended his congratulations and best wishes to the students embarking on a new voyage.
He added, “The world-class faculty at IIT Jammu will nurture your talents to make your dreams a reality.”
To keep up with the change occurring in the world, he advised the students to investigate new avenues and continually reinvent themselves.
“Let’s utilize the potential of innovation and engineering to construct a better tomorrow. The opportunities that lay ahead in India’s journey are enormous, and I have no doubt that the brilliance and determination of our nation’s young engineers will propel us to new heights,” the lieutenant governor added.
