In a shocking incident, a teenager committed suicide after her online NEET score erroneously revealed she obtained six marks out 720. However, she actually scored 590 after re-evaluation. The incident took place in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
Aspiring medical student Vidhi Suryavanshi, 18, was found hanging to death in her house on Tuesday.
While the family reported the matter the next day, primary probe suggests that less marks in the NEET triggered the suicide. According to her parents, Vidhi wanted to become a doctor so she could treat the poor.
If we see the statistics then several students end their lives because of the alleged pressure to perform in the highly competitive national tests for admission to engineering and medical colleges in India.
Here is what Parasiya police station in-charge Sumer Singh Jagte says
“Vidhi was found hanging to death in her house on Tuesday. The family reported the matter the next day. Primary probe suggests that less marks in the NEET triggered the suicide, but further investigations are underway.”
Nakul Nath, the first-time MP, posted about the horrific incident on social networking site on Thursday.
“How can such a serious lapse be allowed to happen in such national entrance test and it’s result. I appeal the government to immediately take cognizance of the matter and take stringent action against those found responsible for the grave lapse,” read Facebook post of the Chhindwara MP.
