MBBS : NMC frames scheme to give relief to final year medical students who returned from Ukraine China

The National Medical Commission has told the Supreme Court that those final year medical students who have returned to India due to COVID and the Russo-Ukraine war and who have received degrees on the date of notification will be allowed to appear in the FMG examination. Taking note of the stand of the NMC, the apex court in its July 25 order said, “The compliance report filed with the July 23 affidavit is taken on record.” At present, no further order can be appealed in respect of various applications. The applications are disposed of accordingly. If there is any pending application, it is also disposed of.

The Supreme Court on April 29 asked the regulatory body to prepare a plan in two months to allow MBBS students affected by the Russo-Ukraine war and pandemic to complete their clinical training in medical colleges here as a one-time measure. was instructed to do.

The NMC said in the affidavit that after the April 29 decision, its Board of Graduate Medical Education (UGMEB) discussed and deliberated on the matter relating to foreign medical graduates in its various meetings.


During the deliberations between the members of UGMEB, officials of Ministry of Health and Ministry of External Affairs, it was informed that 20,672 Indian students are enrolled in various medical colleges and universities of Ukraine, who are taking online classes.


The NMC said in the affidavit that those students in the final year of medical, who have returned to India due to the Russo-Ukraine war and who have received the degree on the date notified, will be allowed to appear in the FMG examination. These include students who have returned from China due to Kovid-19.
