The National Medical Commission (NMC) has given relief to universities and deemed universities in the rules for opening medical colleges. Under this, the institutions which are already running 1000-bed hospital and medical college anywhere in the country, they will be given permission to open new medical colleges immediately. The NMC has sought views of various stakeholders on the revised draft rules for setting up medical colleges. Under the existing rules, to open a medical college, there should be a two-year-old hospital of three hundred beds.

According to the new rules, if a university or a deemed university wants to open another medical college and already has a new multi specialty hospital and medical college with a capacity of 1000 beds, then it is exempted from the need of two years old hospital. will be provided.
