National Education Policy: MDU Rohtak inks MoU with IHM Pusa for hospitality & research

IHM Pusa, a prominent hospitality institution in India, was founded in 1962 and is run by the Indian government’s ministry of tourism. It provides top-notch instruction in hospitality at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), in Rohtak, on the other hand, is a renowned state university founded in accordance with Haryana Act No. 25 of 1975, with a concentration on interdisciplinary higher education and research. According to NIRF, the Indian government, and No. 1 State University of Haryana, MDU has been ranked among the top 100 universities in India for the past five years.

According to a university spokeswoman, the partnership between IHM Pusa and MDU Rohtak intends to provide students from both universities with a “Value Added Course on ‘The Great Indian Cuisine'”. Students will gain practical experience and in-depth understanding of the many regional cuisines of India via this specialised course. The course will cover topics including the Great Indian Cuisine and culinary delights from North, East, West, South, and Central India.

The vice chancellor of MDU, Prof. Rajbir Singh, emphasised the significance of these alliances in fostering academic success. This is likely the first partnership of its sort between two prestigious hospitality institutes in the nation. In order to build stronger linkages between national institutions and universities for academic growth, skill development, and research progress, this partnership is in line with the National Education Policy and the goal of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the government, he added.

Speaking at the MoU signing event, Kamal Kant Pant, the principal/secretary of IHM Pusa, and Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, the registrar of MDU, both highlighted their joy for this partnership and emphasised how important it is for fostering both cultural interchange and culinary abilities.

The “Value Added Course on ‘The Great Indian Cuisine'” would be a one-week programme with roughly forty hours of practical training, according to Prof. Ashish Dahiya, director of IHTM MDU. It will focus on many facets of regional Indian cuisines.

The principal of IHM Pusa, Kamal Kant Pant, stated that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) paves the way for future cooperation between IHM Pusa and Maharshi Dayanand University in areas of shared interest, such as faculty exchange programmes, collaborative research initiatives, and business alliances.

Both Prof. Rahul Rishi, head of Startups, Incubation and Innovation at MU, and Prof. Sandeep Malik, director of the faculty development centre, were present.
