National Sports Day Celebration at AMU: Have a look at the events

Various events were conducted at Ahmadi School for the Visually Impaired to commemorate National Sports Day.

National Sports Day Celebration: In order to honour hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, various institutions of Aligarh Muslim University celebrated National Sports Day.

On this occasion, STS School organised tug-of-war competitions, athletic events, volleyball and hockey matches. Team Red won the championship against Team Green.

Mr. Faisal Nafis, the principal of S.T.S School, stated that activities are essential for the healthy growth of young children and beyond. On the Khel Ratna recipient Major Dhyan Chand’s birthday, he recalled him. Vice-Principal Mr. Mohd Tariq, Mrs. Samina Yusuf Khan, Mr. Nooruzzama Arshad, Mr. Farhan Habib, Ms. Nasreen Fatima, and Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir were also present to applaud and encourage the students.

Mr. Adnan Khan, Mr. Mohammad Asim, and Dr. Zeeshan Haider, three sports instructors at S.T.S. School, played a vital role in the successful organisation of all events.

All activities were organised on the playground, and students participated based on their individual interests.

National Sports Day Celebration at AMU:

Under the Aligarh Muslim University Games Committee, the students of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School distinguished themselves at the National Sports Day event. One student, Nitin Parashar, won a gold medal in powerlifting and silver medals in bench press and arm grappling.

Akshay Singh, an additional student from the school, earned a gold medal in arm wrestling, while Chirag Singh won a silver medal in national taekwondo.

The school held a ceremony in which the principal, Syed Tanveer Nabi, praised the success of the students and honoured them.

“The students of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School bring glory to AMU and the district of Aligarh through sports,” said Mr. Nabi, who congratulated the school’s teachers and coaches on their students’ accomplishments.

A large number of ABK Girls High School pupils participated in the National Sports Day celebration.

The event began with a morning special assembly for both the Primary and Senior Sections. The Primary Section hosted a relay race and handball events.

In the Senior Section, games of kho-kho, tug of war, hockey, and football were held.

Prof. Ali Athar, President of the AMU Football Club, and Mr. Tufail Ahmad, Coach of the AMU Football team, witnessed the event as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.

The Chief Guest officially opened the Sport Day.

Dr. Samina, Principal of AMU ABK High School, congratulated the athletics teams, while Dr. Saba Hasan, Vice Principal, delivered the welcome address.

The Sports Director Mr. Md. Imran prepared the teams for the Hockey, football, Kho-Kho, and Tug of War matches, while Mr. Shamshad Nisar prepared the Primary Section students for the Relay Race and Handball matches.

Around 200 students participated in a variety of games with enthusiasm and earned praise for their abilities.

On National Sports Day, the Abdullah School hosted a variety of sporting events, such as the Balance Race, Three-Legged Race, Problem Solving Race, and Badminton, among others.

Almas, Abdul Ahad, and Mayank placed first, second, and third, respectively, in the class 1 simple competition, whereas Sara, Sana, and Sadia placed first, second, and third, respectively, in the girls’ category. Mohd Asad was proclaimed the winner of the Book Balance Race for the second grade, while Owais and Anas placed second and third, respectively. Rayan Ali was declared the victor of the Problem Solving Race for third-grade students, with Mohd Rayyan coming in second. Altamash and Salim received the third prize jointly. Tahoora, Shahreen, and Umme Kulsum placed first, second, and third, respectively, in the girls’ category.

Zayan and Sabir won the three-legged race for fourth place in class, while Noman and Abdul placed second. Rehan and Zohan were named the third-place finishers. Wajeeha and Sara won the girls’ division of the competition. The second and third place teams were Zunaira and Huda, and Anha and Hifza, respectively.

Abdullah and Ayan claimed the boys’ category of the badminton competition, while Kajal and Khubroo triumphed in the girls’ division.

Various events were conducted at Ahmadi School for the Visually Impaired to commemorate National Sports Day.

Mrs. Sana Raza, in charge of sports, organised various activities for the students, including Ball Passing, Skipping, Musical Chair (Girls), Musical Chair (Boys), and Balloon Race, among others.
