The request for cutoff reduction

The United Doctors Front Association (UDFA) has formally requested that the Union Health Minister and the National Medical Commission (NMC) consider lowering the NEET PG 2023 qualifying cutoff percentile. This action is intended to increase participation in the current counselling procedure, allowing more aspirant candidates to gain admission to postgraduate medical programmes. “Thousands of MBBS graduates who took NEET PG 2023 aspire to enrol in postgraduate programmes. “As per the current eligibility criteria for appearing in Counselling, a large number of PG seats are vacant due to the non-reduction of the eligibility cut-off marks to participate in the counselling,” the letter states.

“If NBE will not revise the lowering in qualifying cut-off percentile to participate in ongoing counselling the vacancy will be same which will be UNJUSTICE for the potential candidates for getting admission in post graduate courses,” said the UDFA President in an official statement.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), a prominent national organisation representing physicians, has written a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in response to shared concerns. In this letter, they have fervently requested that the NEET PG 2023 cut-off percentile be reduced by up to 30 percentage points.

“As a result of high cutoff scores, aspiring medical students will not only be prevented from entering postgraduation, but they will also be forced to travel abroad to pursue their ideal field of postgraduation, further depleting India’s medical workforce. We cannot afford to lose these precious gems at a time when the nation needs a full-fledged medical army to safeguard its citizens, as stated by the IMA in an official letter.

There is currently no official information regarding any modifications to the NEET PG qualifying score. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has provided exclusive updates regarding the virtual vacancy and the most recent seat list for the ongoing Counselling procedure.
