The university professors’ association voiced their opposition to this directive in a statement that was sent to the press on the same day it was received (Monday).

Netaji Subhas Open University Employees Rally Against Social Media Silence Directive

It was stated in the notice that was sent by the office of the registrar that “It is expedient for invocation of Article 34 CHAPTER VII (GENERAL) of the Netaji Subhas Open University are directed not to speak to any kind of press/media/social media on any matter relating to the University…”

In addition to this, it should be specified in the notice that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who violates the order or does not comply with it.

The Netaji Subhas Open University Teachers’ Association has issued a press statement in response to the issuance of this order. The statement states, “We are opposing this kind of order and we are demanding that it be withdrawn immediately.” During the time when the institution was in a stalemate and did not have a vice-chancellor, the professors at the university played an extremely important role.

The university has thus issued an order to put a stop to such actions as of right now. According to a statement made by a university administrator, “It’s a routine matter, and nothing has been issued against the university’s rules and regulations.”
