Odia University to be inaugurated in July first week

The Department of higher education has also decided to conclude the admissions process for this academic year prior to the inauguration.

Odia University to be inaugurated in July first week: The state government has finally decided to open Odia University in Satyabadi, Puri district, during the first week of July. The Department of higher education has also decided to conclude the admissions process for this academic year prior to the inauguration.

Despite the fact that chief minister Naveen Patnaik set the university’s cornerstone on October 9, 2018, construction of this university was proceeding at a snail’s pace. Recently, a high-level meeting was held to expedite the university’s functionalization and begin admissions for the current academic year.

Odia University to be inaugurated in July first week

The higher education department will administer a Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) for admission to the Odia University in three subjects: Odia language and literature, Linguistics and natural language processing, and Regional, Tribal Language and Heritage Studies.

This month will conclude with the completion of the admissions process. Birendra Korkora, special secretary of the higher education department, stated in a letter to the department’s performance tracking cell that the entrance exam and admissions process will be completed by the time the university is inaugurated in the first week of July.

In addition, the department has sent a letter to the general manager of the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) requesting the creation of a dynamic, high-quality, and specialised website for Odia University. As the university will be inaugurated during the first week of July, the website will be constructed by the end of the month, according to the official letter.

The university will be constructed on 25 acres of land adjacent to the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, which was founded by the renowned Panchasakha – Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Acharya Harihar Das, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Krupasindhu Mishra, and Godavarish Mishra. The Bana Vidyalaya taught its students patriotism, service to humanity, how to be a decent person and nationalism.

Approximately 10 acres of land have been acquired, and construction has begun. In the first phase, classrooms, dormitories, an administrative building, a library, and other essential facilities will be constructed to begin classes, according to an official.

This institution will promote research and advanced study in the language and literature of Odia. It will provide research opportunities in a variety of disciplines related to language, literature, linguistics, and ancient scripts.
