Candidates with high scores on this entrance exam will be admitted to postgraduate programmes in Odisha's state public universities and autonomous colleges.
Odisha CPET 2023: Friday marked the beginning of the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2023) at 21 examination centres across the state. Candidates with high scores on this entrance exam will be admitted to postgraduate programmes in Odisha’s state public universities and autonomous colleges. The 10-day test will continue until July 4th.
This year, the State Selection Board (SSB) is administering the CPET for the first time. The department of higher education has delegated this examination responsibility to SSB rather than universities. Since 2013, state public universities have administered this entrance examination.
There were as many as 69,705 applicants for the CPET-2023. Exams in anthropology (arts and sciences), geography, Hindi, and MBA (business administration) were administered in three sittings on the first day.
The first session took place between 10 and 11 am, while the second session began at 12.30 pm and lasted until 1.30 pm. The last event took place between 3 and 4 p.m. For 80 points, candidates answered objective-type questions. According to SSB secretary Madhusudan Mishra, it was an OMR-based examination.
According to him, the examination went off without a hitch. “We have selected large degree-granting colleges with autonomy as examination centres. Two centres have been designated for the Bhubaneswar and Sundargarh districts, one in Sundargarh and one in Rourkela. Others were in Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Balangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Paralakhemundi, Berhampur, Jajpur, Bhawanipatna, Phulbani, Keonjhar, Jeypore, Baripada, Puri and Sambalpur,” he added.
Candidates will take exams in physics, population studies, law, statistics, and business on Saturday. On Sunday, they will take exams in subjects such as microbiology, English, zoology, PMIR/IRPM, Yoga, and Naturopathy.
On July 16, the SSB administering the CPET will pass over the entrance scores to the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC). Between July 8 and July 15, applicants may submit high school diplomas or equivalents.
According to official sources, the department will announce the dates for the publication of subject-specific and statewide merit lists.
