RRB Group D and RRB NTPC recruitment Amidst NER Railway eliminates 1320 vacancies

Railway Recruitment 2022: Amidst the noise of recruitment for 1.5 lakh posts, NE Railway has surrendered 1320 posts. This is the situation when there is a shortage of staff in almost all the departments. Department wise information of surrendered posts in a year has been given by NE Railway to Hindustan under Right to Information. A total of 1320 posts were surrendered in the North Eastern Railway in 2021-22. Out of these, 596 posts have been surrendered in the maximum mechanical department. After this, the highest number of posts abolished are of medical. 280 medical posts have been surrendered. At the same time, 213 posts in engineering were abolished.

There is a boil in the Employees Union of North Eastern Railway over the surrender of such a large number of posts. Union General Secretary Vinod Rai said that the policy of recruiting fewer posts on the one hand and surrendering a large number of posts on the other is very objectionable. If such posts keep on surrendering then unemployment will increase further. This situation is when the pressure of passengers and trains is continuously increasing in the railways.

Hundreds of employees are retiring every year
Every year hundreds of employees are also retiring from the three divisions and headquarters of North Eastern Railway. Recruitment is also not being done relative to these. In such a situation, the number of employees is decreasing due to surrender of posts.

Last year 436 posts of loco pilots were surrendered
NE Railway Administration had surrendered a large number of Assistant Loco Pilot posts last year. The Personnel Department of NER had issued a surrender notification for 436 posts. These posts are of Lucknow, Varanasi and Izzatnagar divisions.

At present, 55 thousand railway personnel-officers in North Eastern Railway
At present, there are about 55 thousand employees and officers in all the three divisions of North Eastern Railway. Most of these employees are employed at the stations of Lucknow division and at Gorakhpur headquarters. More than 5000 workers are employed in Gorakhpur workshop alone.
