Professor Shafey Kidwai highlighted Sir Syed’s keen interest in international affairs and his articles published in the two periodicals he founded, the Institute Gazette and Tazeebul Akhlaq.

Sir Syed, according to Professor Saud Alam Qasmi, kept a watch on current events in the Islamic world. Prof. Qasmi emphasised, “He desired a fusion of East and West and insisted on adopting good practises and gathering knowledge wherever he found it, while abandoning wrong and obsolete traditions.”
