Aligarh, March 26: The Department of Economics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized an online seminar on the application process for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship. The event was organized by Prof. SM Jawed Akhtar, the Seminar’s Convener, to guide research scholars and postgraduate students of AMU’s Economics Department.
Mr. Asad Tariq, a Fulbright Scholar from Brown University in the United States, was the main speaker at the seminar. A Commonwealth Scholar at Imperial College, London, and a Ph.D. student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, Mr. Tariq provided invaluable insights into the fellowship application process.
In the workshop, participants learned about important components of the application, including writing research proposals, obtaining letters of support, and drafting personal statements. For the fellowship to succeed, Mr. Tariq stressed the importance of identifying suitable supervisors in the research area. Additionally, students gained insight into the application procedures for other fellowships and developed their skills in writing effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) for top global institutions.
The Economics Department Chairman, Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi, and Professor S.M. Jawed Akhtar lauded the success of the seminar, promising to organize similar seminars in the future in order to further support students’ academic and professional development.
