On Friday, the newly appointed president of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AK Bisoi, made his first visit to the institution.

Seniors in AIIMS Bhubaneswar: Senior MBBS students at AIIMS Bhubaneswar will receive a bonus for mentoring novice students in teaching and research. On Friday, the newly appointed president of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AK Bisoi, made his first visit to the institution.

He stated that the senior MBBS students with the most merit will be hired as teaching assistants (TA) and research assistants (RA). He added that they will guide intermediate students in both education and research.

Additionally, the engaged TA and RA students will receive incentives. “This system will greatly assist medical students in adopting and learning more about modern medical science, as well as fostering their research innovations,” he added.

In addition, he urged the students to participate more in the curriculum and various medical science education models. AIIMS Bhubaneswar undergraduates will be immersed in an environment brimming with vitality and enthusiasm for research and innovation once this system is implemented by the national institute.

During his visit, Bisoi emphasised the importance of democratic, rule-based, and transparent decision-making systems at this national institute. In addition, he emphasised broader participation and leadership development at all levels.

For efficient healthcare delivery, he emphasised proper coordination between departments and fostering a culture of duty devotion and compassion in both education and healthcare service.

Bisoi, a renowned cardiac surgeon with three decades of professional excellence and innovation, was recently nominated to replace Subrat Kumar Acharya, former professor of AIIMS New Delhi and renowned medical gastroenterologist, as president of this institution. On his first visit to the institute, he was greeted by AIIMS Bhubaneswar executive director Ashutosh Biswas, department chiefs, and other officials.
