The selection process for SSC JE 2023

Three phases comprise the SSC JE 2023 selection procedure:

Stage 1 comprises the Paper 1 CBT examination. The initial phase consists of the Paper 1 Exam, a General Ability Test (GAT) that is administered uniformly to all applicants. The examination consists of two hundred multiple-choice questions that address the following topics:

  • General Reasoning and Intelligence
  • GeneralAwareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • English Comprehension

Stage 2 includes the Paper 2 examination, which is also administered via CBT. The Paper 2 Exam, which is subject-specific and differs based on the engineering discipline selected by the candidates, comprises the second phase. There are 300 multiple-choice questions on the following topics:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

A negative marking can be observed on both Paper 1 and Paper 2. An allowance of 0.25 marks is withheld for each incorrect response in Paper 1, and 1 mark is deducted in Paper 2.

In conclusion, stage 3 is exclusively devoted to the verification of documents and excludes any evaluation components.

Those who successfully complete both Paper 1 and Paper 2 advance to the Document Verification phase. A comparison is made between the self-attested duplicates of candidates’ documents that they uploaded during the online application phase and the originals.

Applicants who successfully complete all three phases of the selection procedure will be offered Junior Engineer positions across multiple departments of the central government.
