Tamil Nadu schools reopening postponed again due to intense heatwave: The resumption of schools in Tamil Nadu has once again been postponed as a result of the persistent heatwave conditions. Originally scheduled to open on June 1 for students in sixth through twelfth grade and on June 5 for students in first through fifth grade, the opening date has already been pushed back once. Various individuals and organisations demanded that the reopening be delayed due to the extreme heat encountered in the state.

Tamil Nadu schools reopening postponed again due to intense heatwave:

In response to these concerns, Minister Anbil Mahesh announced that schools for students in classes 1 through 12 would now reopen on June 7 following the summer break. However, social activists and parents continued to express concern, stating that pupils would be harmed if schools opened as long as the heat remained. Consequently, there was a renewed demand for the school’s reopening to be delayed.

Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to discuss the issue at the Chief Secretariat. Due to the ongoing heatwave, it was determined at the conclusion of the meeting to once again delay the opening of schools. The new reopening dates are June 12 for students in sixth through twelfth grade and June 14 for students in first through fifth grade.

This decision prioritises the safety and welfare of students in light of the current weather conditions. By granting additional time, authorities in Tamil Nadu hope to create a secure and more conducive learning environment for students.
