A total of Rs 70 crore will be spent on the programme, which will run for six months during the current academic year 2022-23 and twelve months in 2023-24.
Over the next 18 months, the Telangana government will distribute 33 lakh adolescent health kits to girl students in government schools and junior colleges.
According to a Government Order (GO), the kits will be distributed to girl students in government schools and colleges from 8th grade to Intermediate (second year) as part of an adolescent health programme.
A total of Rs 70 crore will be spent on the programme, which will run for six months during the current academic year 2022-23 and twelve months in 2023-24.
During the current academic year, 11 lakh kits will be distributed. A zipper bag, six packs of sanitary napkins, and a water bottle are included in the kit. 22 lakh kits will be distributed during the next academic year. Each kit will include 12 sanitary napkin packs.
S. A. M. Rizvi, secretary, health, medical, and family welfare, issued a directive authorising the expenditure of Rs 69.52 crore for the procurement and distribution of adolescent health kits. The expenditure will be covered by National Health Mission (NHM) funds, according to the GO.
The programme will be carried out under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram.
