The Vitality of Life Skills in Student Development: In today’s fast-paced world, education transcends the confines of textbooks and classrooms, adopting a broader approach to student development. It focuses on nurturing their overall development and equipping them with the skills necessary to flourish in both their personal and professional lives. These skills include communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, collaboration, adaptability, resiliency, empathy, and self-awareness. Therefore, the National Education Policy 2020 emphasises the necessity of integrating these competencies across all educational levels.

The Vitality of Life Skills in Student Development: Nurturing the Next Generation

Keeping this in mind, Timesofindia.com is hosting an education round table, bringing together luminaries from the field of education and policymakers, to discuss the importance of developing life skills, methods to integrate them into the curriculum, the difficulties of doing so, and the way forward. On July 28th, this digital panel discussion will be broadcast on the official website and TOI’s Facebook platform. The schedule is available on the official website. In this webinar, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, will deliver the keynote address, and Mr. Anand Kumar, Padam Shri, Founder of Super 30, will deliver a special address.

Distinguished panellists will cast light on the various aspects of youth life skill development during the panel discussion. Dr. Neharika Vohra, Former VC, Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, Dr. Bishwajeet Saha, Director, Skill Education, CBSE, Ms. Shruti Kapoor, Lead, Economic Opportunities, YuWaah (UNICEF), and Mr. Ashok Pandey, Director, Ahlcon Group of Schools, will participate in the online roundtable.

The integration of life skills contributes significantly to academic achievement. When students possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, they can competently analyse information, synthesise knowledge, and approach problems with a proactive, solution-focused mindset. These abilities not only improve their academic performance, but also serve as valuable preparation for future vocations, thriving in a world that is rapidly changing, leading fulfilling lives, and making significant contributions to society.
