India has become the first nation to land close the south pole of the Moon.
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) takes great pride in the fact that three of its alumni, namely Amit Kumar Bhardwaj, Mohd. Kashif, and Areeb Ahmad, participated in the third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). India has become the first nation to land close the south pole of the Moon.
All three were B.Tech. graduates from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI in 2019. ISRO announced the exam results in September, 2021. Notable is the fact that Mohd. Kashif topped the Exam, and all three candidates were chosen for the position of Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’-Mechanical (Post No. BE002).
Chandrayaan-3 Landing: Everything about the Mission, what happens after it lands on the Moon
Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri), vice chancellor of the JMI, was ecstatic about the development. She stated, “I would like to begin by congratulating the honorable prime minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on the accomplishment of the mission. It is a time of national celebration, and we are especially pleased that our students participated in this historic mission. I congratulate them on their achievement and wish them prosperity in their future endeavors.
The Jamia fraternity is pleased with them.” Prof. Akhtar also stated that they have become role models for the university’s current students, who will be inspired to work diligently to bring the country to greater heights.
Yesterday, the university made special provisions at multiple locations on campus for the live broadcast of the soft landing of Chandrayan-3’s Vikram Lander. As soon as Chandrayan-3 touched down on the moon, the audience in the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium and other university venues applauded and shouted in delight.
