Online Short-Term Course: A week-long online short-term course on the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was completed by Aligarh Muslim University’s Human Resource Development Centre (UGC HRDC), which is part of the University Grants Commission. One hundred college instructors from various HEIs across the country who specialise in different disciplines participated actively in this event.
Professor Geeta Singh, the director of Delhi University’s Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education (CPDHE), served as the event’s chief guest. Professor Singh emphasised the crucial elements of NEP 2020 in her farewell speech. She emphasised the need of regional languages in schooling and said that mother tongues are essential to our mental processes and cannot be replaced. She gave a strong illustration, saying, “We dream in Hindustani, not in English, French, or German.” She also praised the cultural importance of Urdu, an Indian language that was developed there.
Further explanation of the new mandate given to UGC HRDCs under the Malviya Mission Centres programme was provided by Professor Geeta Singh. She emphasised the crucial part that these organisations play in raising awareness about NEP and compared the visionary goals of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, who founded Aligarh Muslim University, and Pandit Mohan Malviya, who founded Banaras Hindu University, in terms of educational advancement.

Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director of UGC HRDC, emphasised the New Education Policy’s transformative principles. She emphasised the crucial role that educators play in determining the educational priorities of the country and reaffirmed AMU’s commitment to implementing the fresh ideas put out by NEP 2020.
The programme’s numerous aspects, including holistic and multidisciplinary education, skill development, academic integrity, and a big emphasis on teaching in regional languages, including mother tongue, were explained by the course coordinator, Prof. Sajid Jamal, Department of Education. Throughout the brief training, eminent resource people from various backgrounds led sessions.
All of the participants overwhelmingly praised the course and acknowledged their satisfaction with its calibre and content. After completing this course, educators are better prepared to contribute to the reform of higher education in line with NEP 2020.
